Field Study in Andalucía

New in Fall 2018: Spanish-language Field Study & Internship program

The Andalucía Field Study and Internship Program is centered on a full-time internship or research placement as the means for language immersion, cross-cultural learning, and a comparative grasp of a student’s own field. These goals are reached though a multi-faceted 17-week academic semester, offered in two themed Tracks (see below):

- Track I: History and Culture in Andalucía

- Track II: Contemporary Social/Economic Issues from the Andalucían Perspective

The semester begins with 6 weeks of intensive interdisciplinary courses, including a 1 week study tour to Morocco, followed by an 11-week full time internship in the student’s field. As part of the internship, students conduct field research, delving into an issue and producing a 30-page independent study. During the internship, students take one course, from a selected list corresponding to their track, at a local university.
